Milstein Scholars
The Darwin Trust of Edinburgh was established in 1983 by Sir Kenneth Murray, Professor of Molecular Biology, and his wife Dr Noreen Murray, Professor of Molecular Genetics, at the University of Edinburgh. Ken had been at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge from 1964 to 1967, and the Murrays were close friends of César and Celia Milstein.
In memory of César and in recognition of his work, Ken created the César Milstein Studentship for Argentine scientists. Since 2003, it has funded one PhD student per year in the LMB's Division of Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry (PNAC), where Milstein carried out most of his research.
